Switching from Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro alternatives for mechanics
Housecall Pro is built for HVAC, plumbing and the rest of the home trades, and it is cheap and good at that. This page is about what changes for a mechanic who leaves, starting with the fact that most alternatives cost more.
Looking for the row by row table instead? Fixty vs Housecall Pro
What actually moves, and what does not
First, the part that decides how big this job is. There is no upload screen in Fixty, so nothing about moving your customers happens on a page you click through alone. It happens with somebody: you send the list Housecall Pro hands back, support goes through it with you, and it is loaded into your account. Raise it before you cancel anything, because it involves another person and no turnaround has been promised for it.
The second thing is specific to leaving a home services tool. Housecall Pro keeps a customer and a service address. You need a customer and a car. In practice that means whatever comes out of your export arrives with the vehicle missing, because the vehicle was never a field: it has been living in a job description, an internal note or your head. Nobody can automate a car out of free text or guess it from an address, so the vehicle is the piece that comes back from you whoever does the loading.
That is the price of the move and it is worth paying once, deliberately, on the customers who still call you. What nobody can reconstruct from a spreadsheet is years of history. Keep the old account readable, start writing new work where a vehicle is a real record, and let the past stay where it was written.
Export while you are still paying
Ask Housecall Pro in writing for customers, jobs, estimates and invoices before the renewal date. What any vendor gives back on the way out is not something we have sourced from their own pages, so their written answer is the one that counts.
The list can be loaded, the cars cannot
Year, make, model, plate and mileage become a real record in Fixty and almost certainly were not one before. That is the part to budget for: the names and numbers can be handed over, the vehicle behind each name comes out of your head.
Your booking link changes on the day you switch
If customers book you from Google or your site, the link is a live piece of your business. Set up the new booking page first, update your Google Business Profile and bio links in one sitting, and only then take the old one down.
Plan the texting number before you plan anything else
A dedicated number your customers already reply to is the hardest thing to move. In Fixty it sits on the Growth plan rather than Starter, so it decides your plan rather than the other way round.
Run both for a few weeks
New work in the new system, old work looked up in the old one. Cancel when a whole week goes by without opening Housecall Pro.
What you give up by leaving Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro does several things Fixty has no answer for at all, and they are things a growing operation notices. These are their own words on the rows Fixty loses.
Route optimization
Fixty: No. Fixty does not do this. It was advertised once by mistake and the claim was retracted.
Housecall Pro
Yes
“Map efficient routes across your crew so techs spend less time driving and more time on jobsites.”

Multi technician teams
Fixty: No. One mechanic, one workspace. Built solo first on purpose.
Housecall Pro
Yes
“Yes. Housecall Pro makes it simple to assign multiple techs to one job.”

Accounting sync
Fixty: No. No QuickBooks or Xero integration today.
Housecall Pro
Yes
“Invoices, customers, line items, and payments will automatically push into QuickBooks”

Public booking page
Fixty: Yes.
Housecall Pro
Yes
“Let clients book directly from Google search results or your website and win jobs around the clock.”

When Housecall Pro is the better choice, in full
- You dispatch a crew rather than working alone. They publish assigning multiple techs to one job and mapping routes across the whole crew; Fixty is built around one mechanic.
- You want customers booking themselves from Google search and your own website around the clock, and you want that booking page to be part of the same product.
- Your books already live in QuickBooks and you want invoices, customers, line items and payments pushed into it without re-keying.
- Price matters more than fit and you will commit to a year: their entry plan billed annually costs less per month than Fixty Starter at $99/mo.
Every Housecall Pro claim on this page was read from their own site, is quoted with the page it came from, and was last re-read on August 29, 2026. Where a cell says we could not confirm something, that is what it means: we looked and did not find it, which is not the same as it not existing.
Be honest with yourself: this switch probably raises your bill
Most alternatives pages skip this and the reader finds out at checkout. Housecall Pro publishes the cheapest entry price of any product we hold sourced data on:
Cheapest published monthly price, billed annually
$59 per month
“Basic, 1 user: $59/month, saving $20 per month [dash normalized]”
housecallpro.com/llm-info, read August 29, 2026
Fixty Starter is more than that per month, and Fixty does less: no route optimisation, no second user, no accounting sync. So if your decision is purely about the invoice at the end of the month, the honest answer is that you are already on the cheaper product and you should stay on it.
What the extra buys is a vehicle in the middle of everything: a car with a plate and a mileage reading and its own history, a photo inspection you send by text, and an estimate the customer approves line by line instead of as one total. If those three do not describe a problem you actually have this month, the price difference is not worth paying for a feeling of better fit.
The number your customers already text
This is the migration detail that catches mechanics leaving Housecall Pro, because their texting is more established than most people realise:
Yes
“Send “On my way” texts from a custom messaging number and let customers respond in real time.”
housecallpro.com/features/customer-management, read August 29, 2026
If your regulars reply to a number they have saved, that number is part of your business and it does not travel with an export. In Fixty a dedicated text number is part of the Growth plan rather than Starter, which means the texting question decides your plan before you have compared anything else.
Whichever way you go, tell people. A short message from the old number saying which number to use from now on, sent while both are still alive, is the cheapest part of the whole migration. The mechanics who lose customers in a switch almost never lose them over software.
A pass or fail checklist is not a vehicle inspection
Housecall Pro documents structured job forms rather than inspections. This is the closest capability on their site, in their words:
Partial
“Structure every job with dropdowns, checkboxes, pass/fail flags, and required steps.”
housecallpro.com/features/jobsite-photo-app, read August 29, 2026
Dropdowns and required steps are genuinely useful for making sure a job gets done the same way twice. They are a different thing from the report that sells the next job: photographs of the worn pad next to the good one, a short note per finding, and a link the customer opens while they are standing next to you.
That difference is why a lot of mechanics on home services software feel the tool is fine and still quietly do the selling part in their camera roll and their messages app. If that is you, the switch is worth more than the feature list makes it look, because it collapses three tools into the job itself.
Who should not switch to Fixty
Housecall Pro is a good product and a cheaper one. Four kinds of operator should stay on it, and none of them are edge cases.
Automotive is not most of your revenue
Fixty is built around a vehicle record. If half your jobs are at a property with no car involved, half of Fixty is dead weight.
You send other people to jobs
Housecall Pro assigns several techs to one job and maps routes across a crew. Fixty is one mechanic in one workspace and cannot do either.
You are on their entry plan and the monthly bill is the whole argument
Their annual entry price is lower than Fixty Starter. Switching for cost reasons would move you the wrong way.
QuickBooks is doing your books and the push is automatic today
Fixty has no accounting integration. Invoices and payments would go into your books by hand.
Alternatives to Housecall Pro that are not Fixty
If the problem is that your software is built for properties and you work on cars, the answer is auto repair software, and Fixty is one of four we hold sourced data on. Here are the other three, with who they suit and where each one bites. We would not recommend hopping to Jobber: it is aimed at the same trades as Housecall Pro, so you would arrive with the same missing vehicle.
AutoLeap
Fits you if: You work out of a van, you want auto repair vocabulary, and you expect to want stock and technicians later.
The catch: No free trial of the shop software, and their published entry price is well above what you pay today.
In their own words
Yes
“Built for mobile mechanics who work from a van, not a shop.”
autoleap.com/mobile-mechanic-software, read August 29, 2026
Cheapest published monthly price
$179 per month
“Power your shop with #1 Auto Repair Software starting at $179/mo. Flexible monthly and annual plans designed to streamline operations for shops of any size.”
autoleap.com/pricing, read August 29, 2026
Shopmonkey
Fits you if: You want a full shop system with inventory and named integrations, and you are growing towards a building.
The catch: The highest published entry price of the set, a demo instead of a trial, and self booking sold separately from the plan.
In their own words
Yes
“Shopmonkey brings scheduling, communication, payments, reports, and more into a single, easy-to-use platform built for mobile repair work.”
shopmonkey.io/mobile-mechanic-software, read August 29, 2026
Cheapest published monthly price
$215 per month
“Simple pricing for auto repair and shop management software. Shopmonkey offers plans starting from just $215/month with annual pricing discounts.”
shopmonkey.io/pricing, read August 29, 2026
Tekmetric
Fits you if: You already have premises, or you are about to, and unlimited users matter more than a phone first workflow.
The catch: Written around bays, a front counter and a shop calendar, and there is no free trial to test that fit with.
In their own words
Auto repair shops of every size. Their own estimate FAQ says that set includes mobile mechanics alongside single shop businesses and franchises.
“Yes! We proudly support more than 15,000 shops including mobile mechanics, single shop businesses, and franchises. Tekmetric is cloud-based so you can access Tekmetric from anywhere on any device.”
tekmetric.com/feature/estimate-building, read August 29, 2026
Cheapest published monthly price
$179 per month
“Tekmetric starts at $179 per month when billed annually.”
tekmetric.com/ai-info, read August 29, 2026
We sell one of the options on this page, so read the quotes rather than our summary of them. Each price above is the cheapest monthly figure that vendor publishes, which is usually the annually billed rate. Paying month to month generally costs more.
Questions people ask before they switch
Is Housecall Pro good for mechanics?
It is good software written for other trades. Their own pricing page describes it for home service businesses like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning and landscaping, a list a mechanic is conspicuously not on. Plenty of mechanics use it anyway, and the thing they work around is that there is nowhere for the car to live.
Will switching to Fixty save me money?
Probably not. Housecall Pro publishes the lowest entry price of any product we hold sourced data on, and Fixty Starter is more per month than their annual entry rate. Switch for the vehicle record, the photo inspections and line by line estimate approval, or do not switch.
Can I move my Housecall Pro customers into Fixty automatically?
Not automatically and not from a screen you drive, because the app has no upload page. Support loads your list with you once you send it over. The vehicle details still tend to be filled in afterwards, because home services software had no field to keep them in and they are not in the file to be loaded.
What happens to my booking page and my texting number?
Both need planning. The booking link changes, so set up the new page and update your Google Business Profile and bio links before you take the old one down. A dedicated text number is on the Fixty Growth plan rather than Starter, so decide that question before you choose a plan.
If you are switching, start on one job
Do not migrate anything. Take your next job, write the estimate at the curb, text it, let the customer approve the lines they want, and take the card before you pack up. If that one job is better than the way you do it today, enter the next customer too.
